Invisotech About Us

Invisotech = Inspection Technologies

The fusion of the Latin word inviso [to look, to watch, to inspect] and technology.

We fuse the very latest in access and assessment technologies to provide safer, superior, quicker and cost-effective inspections for high-value assets, such as wind turbine towers and blades.

By combining Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV’s) - to gain safe and efficient access to your asset; with a variety of inspection tools - such as HD cameras and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) equipment; we can find the right combination to deliver the precise inspection, data and analytical service you need to best manage your assets and finances.

Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne we cover the UK, with plans to expand into Europe and beyond in due course.

Problem

We noticed that existing inspections can be:

Hazardous and lead to safety risks or even cause or exacerbate existing asset damage
Usually manual processes of low quality (e.g. use of binoculars) and very little recording of actual data
Not detailed enough to effectively assist with planning, trend analysis and predictive maintenance
Time consuming and hampered by other factors such as the weather
Expensive, particularly when you factor in the cost of asset downtime
Not fit for future industry and asset growth and increasing handover or trade of assets

Solution

We combine ROV’s with the latest inspection technologies to provide something that is:

Inspections

We can be engaged to work on a regular or ad hoc basis to meet your inspection needs:

Initial inspections – check the installation or start point and set the benchmark for future inspections
Routine in-service inspections – as part of a robust review and maintenance programme
Record keeping – to track events, monitor trends or just provide historical records
Pre and End Of Warranty (EOW) inspections – ensure a smooth and trouble-free handover
Due diligence before you buy or sell an asset
Warranty or insurance surveys or claim assistance
   Ad hoc damage assessment
   General consulting services

Take EOW as an example; Industry commentators Wind Energy Update recently observed that:

“Asset owners should be working with well qualified, independent inspection service providers between six months to a year ahead of that [End Of Warranty] date to ensure the turbine OEMs have ample time to respond to warranty claims, especially if there are disagreements that call for the use of third party engineering teams."Wind Energy Update

Equipment

We select the right equipment for the job:

Your asset will drive the selection of technology and we're always reviewing new technologies for access vehicles and measurement equipment.

The climbers can stick to and manoeuvre around metallic walls, ceilings and rounded surfaces. They are remote controlled by our expert operatives, very lightweight and easily deploy-able. They can be combined with a multitude of inspection technologies to suit all types of inspection needs.

The wind tower climber uses magnetic adhesion, which allows for both ultra-close proximity and extreme precision on and around the asset. The coupled NDT equipment uses an electromagnetic technique for detecting and sizing surface breaking defects, particularly suited for inspecting painted and welded structures. This solution can check the tower surface, coat, welds and visually inspect the blades.

Benefits

With Invisotech you can be assured of a service that:

   Is thorough
   Is safer than traditional methods
Can reach those areas difficult to access manually
Won't cause or exacerbate damage like other inspection methods
Can provide superior reporting and audit trail
   Can provide clear documentation
   Can track history over time
   Can produce useful analytical data
   Is cost effective
Can help you understand your asset and its value
